" As a child , I would often visit the doctor due to my asthma . Going to the doctor ' s office was never scary for me , because this was the person th wa le to help you feel better . The care and compassion I received as a child stuck with me ," states Dorothy . " I wanted to help others in the same way . Even today , when I enter into clinic , I know that I a privileged and blessed to be able to use my God-given talents to help care for people ."

I b gan to realize that while I co help a finite number of patients in clinic each week , I could help eve more by helping craft policy . I eemed logical to study law and learn even more ways to contribute to society . While in law school , I l felt the pull toward clinical medicine . It was as a first year law stud nt that I took the Medical Coll Admission Test and realized life wasn ' t 'e ither-or ', but ' both-and '," Do othy explains .
