Bridge to Independence ' s After School Tutorial Program currently services an average of 20 students in grades kindergarten through twelfth on Tuesdays and Thursdays for one hour each day .
" I am excited about implementing the new Project Lead the Way ( PLTW ) STEM Program at Bridge to Independence Private School in Orlando , Florida . STEM is the acronym for Science , Technology , Engineering and Math . Launching the STEM Program will help to provide hands-on learning activities and provide differentiated learning strategies for the students to actively engage in ;' Nicole explains .
" This process will also help students to expand their critical thinking , technological skills with the use of iPads and to find the best possible solutions for class / team directed assignments and discussions . STEM gives both students and teachers the ability to think outside of the box and use the analytical approach to gather and interpret data , design and build new machines / objects in correlation to the curriculum :' The STEM program will be steered by Mrs . Kimberly Watts .
University of Central Florida ' s Center for Research and Education in Arts , Technology and Entertainment ( CREATE ) provides an interdisciplinary art class for our eighth grade students .
During the year students create artists from many periods and cultures . The six grade students are a part of the Arts & Technology class at UCF / CREATE downtown Orlando , FL .
The College and Career Department took our BTI high school students to visit Bethune­ Cookman University in Daytona Beach , FL . The students learned the history of Dr . Mary McLeod Bethune and how she started her school with a dollar fifty and her faith in God . Our students were equipped with admission and financial aid information during our tour .
