10 When Jesus heard this , he was amazed . Turning to the crowd , he said , “ I tell you the truth , I haven ’ t seen faith like this in all the land of Israel ! 11 And I tell you this that many Gentiles will come from all over the world and sit down with Abraham , Isaac , and Jacob at the feast in the Kingdom of Heaven . 12 But many Israelites — those for whom the Kingdom was prepared — will be cast into outer darkness , where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth .” 13 Then Jesus said to the Roman officer , “ Go on home . What you have believed has happened .” And the young servant was healed that same hour .
When we read this passage we all get excited about the power of God ! But let us look at this from a military stand point . Now I served seven years in the U . S . Marines , and I learned this simple fact , that the Word or Command given is the authority . No matter who gives the command , the command must be carried out ! Even if you disagree with the command , you carry it out , and then go to your superior to lodge your complaint . But the given command is the authority . And it does not matter who in authority gave the command , the command must be followed . That is what the Roman Centurion understood , Jesus did not have to go to his house , just send the command , ( The Word ), and his servant would be healed . That ’ s faith !
This same principle works in all areas of life . We understand it from obeying the laws that we follow . Whether it is the government , or the corporate home office , it is the word sent forth that gets obeyed . Even as parents , in your home you teach your children that what you say goes ! And we all get in fear when we do something that momma says not to do , and our brother or sister says , “ I ’ m going to tell momma !” ( Well it used to be that way ). Bottom line is it is the word that is the authority .
If faith is the substance of things hoped for , and the evidence of things not seen , then it doesn ’ t matter how the situation looks , just speak the word with authority , “ In faith believing ” and watch it come to pass !
