It ’ s The Economy Stupid !

I am reminded of a television commercial that came on when I was a kid for Hershey ’ s Lollipops . A kid asked a wise owl how many licks it takes to get to the center of the lollipop and the wise owl took the pop , licked it counting one , two , three – then bit it to the core . The wise owl replied to the kid – Three . At that point the commentator voice came on stating “ The World May Never Know .”
There are a lot of aspects of our current economy that before now existed in the category of “ The World May Never Know .” How many bad weeks can a business have before it is forced to close its doors ? Will I ever loose my prominent job ? How many months will a bank let you get behind before they foreclose on your home or repossess your car ? Can a few bad decisions cause me to loose my family and everything ? Will there ever be a time when you can ’ t trust your government and business leaders ?

America ’ s financial calamity has forced many to realize the important money circulating in the right places and in the hands of the right people . It does us no good with all the money being at the top and none circulating at the bottom for the middle-class . After-all , this is Economics 101 , who wouldn ’ t know this ? Everybody except one person and his name is Greed , and he is the first monster President Obama will have to battle and clean-up its aftermath .
An Obama ’ s presidency is one that wants to cut taxes for the middle class while he raises taxes on the well-to-do . “ The economy hit a new low this week , and in every part of the country people like you are feeling it ,” Obama states . “ The recent financial disasters — from the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to the historic drop in the stock market – are not just a string of bad luck . They are the result of years of bad decisions made in favor of big corporate special interests instead of America ’ s working families . More than 600,000 Americans have lost their jobs since January . Home foreclosures are skyrocketing and home values are plunging . Gas prices are at an all-time high , and we ’ re still spending more than $ 10 billion every month on a war in Iraq that should never have been waged .”
My friends , we all can help President Obama by realizing our battle today is the fight for the middle class as we highlight the failure of government regulators under the GOP administration , anticipating an escalation of the current crisis and being prepared to do something about it as a reformed , redirected and rededicated country .
