Bonaparte with the Rev . Dr . Wyatt Tee Walker , Senior Pastor of Canaan Baptist Church in Harlem and members of the US delegation in Johannesburg , South Africa in 199 2 , at the first public meeting of the African National Congress after Mandela was released from prison .
She is also the founding Dean & Professor of the Bachelor of Science Nursing Program at St . George ' s University in Grenada . The international spark continues as she now guides her own company , International Nursing Solutions , LLC . to partner with governments and clients in the development of sustainable nursing and healthcare systems that meet the needs of populations in developing countries and worldwide .
To say Dr . Bonaparte is change agent with a lifelong commitment to transforming nursing education and healthcare wouldn ' t be a far stretch . She however believes she simply took full advantage of the educational opportunities presented to her and maximized the opportunities for service in each of the leadership and consulting positions she has held . She acknowledges the support she received from others and is eager to express her appreciation for the nursing leaders and university mentors from whose wisdom she benefited .
She has also been fortunate that her work allowed her to meet world leaders such as Nelson Mandela at the first meeting of the African National Congress after his release from prison ," and Prime Ministers and Ministers of Health over the course of her work . Not only has she been a leader in higher education and nursing but she has served on the Board of Trustees of two universities and the Board of Directors of two hospitals but she has also been appointed to the National Library of Medicine , Literature Technical Review Advisory Committee and to the Commission on the National Nursing Shortage by the Secretary , US Department of Health and Human Services .
