Sharon left her GM career , to support her now exhusband ' s promotion , as a VP for GMAC . Company policy prohibited Sharon from working for any office at the time that fell under his authority . She thought for the first time since she was 16 years old , that she would stay home to raise her daughter who was 3 years old at the time . That lasted for about one year . Surprisingly , after building and decorating her new home - the builder was so impressed with her decorating skills that he asked if she would work with him to assist his new construction customers with building selections . Once again a career found her and within 2 years she started her own decorating business , Panache Interiors .
This was the best of two worlds , Sharon could stay at home supporting her family , and utilize her professional skill in her home interior design business . Sharon operated this business in three different states as the family was transferred around the country . If that wasn ' t enough in her spare time she decided to self-publish a book of poetry called " Reflections of Adoption " . The book was a huge success at her Barnes and Nobles book signing in Indianapolis , IN . At the time it was one of the largest signing to date at that store .
