real estate needs throughout Central Florida, specializing in Volusia and Seminole
county markets. In October 2014, Barb was recognized by the Daytona News
Journal Business Report as being one of the Volusia/Flager Influential Women
in Business. Her passion for real estate was ignited in 2001 while working with
a small boutique realty company, focused on luxury homes in the prestigious
area of Chestnut Hill. She obtained her real estate license in order to help others
fulfill the vision for their dream home. Barb’s team provides caring, responsive,
and quality total real estate services (residential, property management, income

Barb is originally from Long Island, New York, and relocated to her father’s
childhood hometown of DeLand, Florida in 1984 drawn by the warm climate
comforts and a thirst for new opportunities. Here she completed her bach
elor degree, and now holds a Master Degree in Business and Healthcare
Administration. Barb spent more than 20 years in management and
administration within several Health Care systems which sharp
ened her skills, and drove her ability to focus on the needs of cus
tomers and initiating ways to improve the quality of service provided.
Her personal drive for professional success is equally matched by a
heart for her community she demonstrates by facilitating opportu
nities and services to advance the quality of life of others. To promote
health care for the indigent and under-served Barb was elected Com
missioner and serves as Vice-Chair for the West Volusia Hospital Author
ity, a 5 member board responsible for a 15 million dollar budget. Barb is a
member of DeLand Area Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of DeLand,
and serves on the City of Deland Economic Committee, and other community
boards. In 2014, she was presented with the Recognition of Achievement for Civic
Leadership by the DeLand Area Chamber of Commerce. Barb is a member of Faith
Life International Church in Orange City, FL pastored by Ron and Gina Holmes.
Barb’s vision includes a small business service center as a community initiative
to target enhancement, empowerment and the development of economic strategies that will both create and promote local small businesses. Barb as the economic development chair for the Faith-based Greater Union Life Center, 501(c)
3 and the West Volusia NAACP Branch organized a well-touted Minority Business Expo in May 2014. This year Barb will again coordinate an Expo, however
it will be part of the Deland Area Chamber of Commerce MacDeLand Multi-cultural “JamFest” events to be held in June 2015. Sponsors, businesses, and participants throughout Central Florida will be sought and welcomed to be a part
of this 2nd annual event held in award winning Historic Downtown Deland.
Barb is passionate about helping the under-served and under-resourced.
“I see a lot of unmet needs,” she said. “I find there are many people who
are suffering from lack of information and access. I will just continue trying to plant good seed, firm in the belief that eventually things will grow.
We’ll start with a few seeds and end up with a garden of opportunity.”
