Rick Scott Apologize to Lt . Governor Jennifer Carroll Jacksonville , Florida May 2014
So for Rick Scott to single out Lt . Governor Jennifer Carroll and paint her as if she was personally involved in the financial operations of Allied Veteran and their mishandling of revenues was slanderous and disingenuous . With Rick Scott ’ s insinuation to lead the public with the impression that Lt . Governor Carroll was criminally engaged and involved , he knowingly besmirched the character and integrity of an innocent person . All reports have continuously stated that Lt . Governor Carroll had no wrongdoing in the Allied incident . Of late Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll was completely exonerated of any wrongdoing and involvement with any criminal activity associated with Allied Veteran . Florida Department of Law Enforcement stated in their final report , “ Based upon information obtained pursuant to FDLE ’ s investigation , Carroll ’ s business relationship with Allied Veteran of the World and her subsequent actions do not appear to violate any criminal Florida Statute .” Yet this was not the headlines of the tabloid press who sought to put out negative headlines without first getting the facts .
Ironically enough , Governor Rick Scott has continued to come to the aide of two white male chiefs of staff who admitted to unethical wrongdoing and he gave them a pass and even came to their defense . When his Chief of Staff Steve MacNamara gave his buddies no bid contracts while he worked in the Senate President Office as quit pro quo , Rick Scott defended him telling the press , “ Why are you being mean to poor Steve MacNamara .” When Rick Scott ’ s current Chief of Staff Adam Hollingsworth for years embellished his resume lying that he had a college degree to get jobs , Rick Scott defended him by saying , “ He ’ s a good friend and man of integrity .” Both of his chiefs of staff admitted to wrongdoing and Rick Scott stood by their side . Rick Scott gave both of these white males the courtesy and respect to talk with them and to work with them to either give a hefty severance pay and continued access to the high throne in the executive office and to keep their job .
Coming from the private sector Rick Scott knows that no corporation would have kept these two unethical people employed . If there was a reason to ask anyone for their resignation it should have been Steve MacNamara and Adam Hollingsworth , not Lt . Governor Jennifer Carroll .
Lt . Governor Carroll was not given due process , courtesy and respect from Governor Rick Scott to even talk to her prior to asking for her resignation or even afterwards . Rick Scott was an attorney and he of all people should know that a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty . Carroll was not given that presumption by Scott . If Scott wanted Carroll off his ticket he should have manned up and let her know she was not going to be his running mate in the 2014 election . Rick Scott often commented that he does not like working for bullies , well he was the ultimate bully when he asked for Lt . Governor Carroll ’ s resignation without any evidence of wrongdoing .
With a misrepresentation , Rick Scott single handedly destroyed Jennifer Carroll ’ s reputation , 20 years of military service , over 10 years of public service and her integrity , and he showed no remorse ; heartless ! Enough is enough with Governor Rick Scott treating a woman and a minority who helped him to get elected to office in this insensitive and careless manner . Regardless of who you are , there should not be a penalty for having ambition , climbing the ladder , taking professional chances , and working hard . Like her or not , Carroll did not deserve or warranted this treatment .
If Governor Rick Scott had decency , compassion , and integrity he would have already given a public apology to Carroll , but he has shown the true person that he is .
We are calling on Governor Rick Scott to man up , show leadership and do the right thing and admit he was wrong for his knee jerk reaction , for not giving Lt . Governor Jennifer Carroll the same due process , common courtesy , and compassion he gave his white male chief of staffs and for giving misleading and inaccurate impression that Carroll did something illegal .
