Mr . Ben Frazier is a nationally known Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist . He was the first African American to anchor a major news show in Jacksonville , ( Eyewitness News at Noon in 1979 .)
Locally Mr . Frazier has received the Jacksonville Image Award “ Trailblazer Category ” the NAACP ’ s “ Rutledge Pearson Civil Rights Award ”, and Folio ’ s “ Best Community Activist ” amongst many others .
He is a blogger , podcaster , and an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists . He ’ s also an outdoorsman and a U . S . Coast Guard-approved Charter Boat Captain .
Frazier is the founder and president of a non-profit , civil rights organization called the Northside Coalition of Jacksonville Inc . The Northside Coalition has more than a thousand online members , supporters , and volunteers .
