America ' s Schools and Colleges Shape America ' s Future

The reality that hazing continues to happen in high schools , colleges , and universities from Florida to California is hardly a surprise to anyone who is in touch with today ' s media . Nevertheless , hazing is not without its surprises . Students who assume leadership roles in " intake " activities for their organizations are invariably surprised about how quickly " innocuous ( gentle ) hazing " can get out of control and become dangerous and even life threatening . On the other hand , most students aspiring for membership in student organizations know little or nothing about the hazing practices of the groups with which they are seeking membership . In many cases , they are blindsided by the humiliating , painful , and even life threatening treatment to which they are subjected . Clearly , both the group members and the aspirants need access to an intervention mechanism that they can trigger when danger appears to be imminent . Hazing is not victimless and has no respect of gender or race .
Dr . Barbara Barnes has seen and experienced firsthand the negative effects of hazing gone bad in its extreme , and has committed the (., resources and expertise of her firm to providing solu-
tions to hazing practices . Coordinated Services for the Improvement of Education ( CSI Education Consulting , LLC ) has created and is sponsoring the ANTIHAZE National Hazing Hotline for universities and colleges nationwide as a hazing intervention , prevention , and reporting mechanism .
