Rapping is a musical form of vocal delivery that incorporates " rhyme and rhythmic speecli ." Rapping is actually how many young people communicate their thoughts and feelings , so we ' ve decided to use that as a positive . Instead of talking AT our youngsters , we ' ve decided to listen to what THEY have to say ! Which is exactly what we will be doing with our brand new " Increase the Peace " Program !
This innovative program is designed to " Increase The Peace " among high school students on the Northside . High school students will use rap , poetry , and spol<en word to express a Stop The Violence theme . The Increase the Peace program will be rolled out to schools January and will culminate in a live , on-stage performance-basea competition at the end of the school year .
We believe that meeting students " where they are " will ensure the serious and important message of non-violence is well-received . By funneling their art into positive , anti-violence expressions , their positive influence will challenge and change the norms among their
