We are living in difficult times that confront us in every area of life . The society in which we live is changing before our eyes . Many of our moral , biblical and social beliefs have been challenged .
Founded and established in 1858 as the result of the faith of slaves , and on the premise that Jesus Christ is the way , the truth , and the life , and that there is no other name under heaven where by men must be saved other than the name of Jesus , Hopewell formerly First Baptist Church of Mandarin is one of the oldest churches in Northeast in two locations ; Mandarin and Saint John ' s County . The purpose for changing our name from First Baptist Church of Mandarin to Hopewell is to better inform the masses of what God has called us to do ; that is to provide hope for the hurting , the helpless , and the hopeless .
