is
expanding upon its tradition of
recognizing the accomplishments and
contributions
the
Church
and
Community has made toward higher
education and the advancement of our
people. This week long event lifts up
Christ and draws over 10,000 individuals
to Municipal Stadium, Saturday
September 8th at 4:00 pm. This year a
committee of ministers was assembled to
develop a reunion of all B-CU affiliated
clergy in 2009 for a Pastor’s Conference,
Week of Prayer on campus, Lecture
Series, Revival, Music Workshop, and
Gospel Concert.

Church and Community Day started in 1994 by Director of Athletics,
Lynn W. Thompson and then Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Kevin James, to
provide ministry through intercollegiate athletics to the Greater
Central Florida Area while fostering an increase in the paid attendance
at Bethune-Cookman University football games. Great success has
been experienced over the years as churches along with their pastors
aligned the football field for a pre-game concert event.
The ‘Cat Zone’ is something new for the

God desires that of the church. Mediate on the Word of God, so as to clear
out the clutter of our minds so that we can operate in the use our Minds in a
proper way that will bring glory to God. Many of us want the things that God
has to offer, however, we don’t want to change our minds about the way we
are acting, speaking, living, or even learning things; Sadly, even when the
mindset we have isn’t working for us.
The phenomenal consequences of meditating on the Word of God puts us in
a totally different class. Even in the church, because many of us don’t spend
time with God on a regular basis, most of us spend time doing things FOR
God but we don’t spend time WITH God. However, when we do spend that
time, we think differently, we treat people differently, we don’t hold on to
offenses, we forgive speedily, we give, we serve, we love, we turn the other
cheek, we’re blessed and moreso; than that, we obtain and have ACCESS to
the KING of Glory. These are just a few things that happen when our minds
have been elevated. We find out what it really means to be like Jesus, and not
like us.
I believe that the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is the most powerful entity
on the planet. We have the ability and authority through and in Christ Jesus
our Lord to make the necessary changes that is so needed in our
communities, cities, governments, and world. However, we cannot do it
without thinking on a higher level. We can’t believe average or carnal and do
supernatural exploits. This requires change! And then more change, and then
more change. And even more change.
God is a moving God and He desires the best for His children. How about we
get on the “band wagon” and start working on our minds. It’s a 24 hour a day
job, and you will be working on it until Jesus comes back, but you will be
better off because now you’ll be able to hear from the God without all the
clutter that usually would have held you back. Determine not to allow past
failures, offenses, hurts, and traumas, to rob you of the destiny that God has
for you. Elevate your mind, Get yourself together!
