Visit www . gradyrayam . org to learn more about our GRADY-RAYAM PRIZE in Vocal Performance Competition ; a unique program for aspiring classical singers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds – and the CARL MAULTSBY PRIZE in Piano Performance Competition ; a similar opportunity for emerging keyboard artists .
Both competitions have Lower Division ( Florida high school students in 11th or 12th grade ) and Upper Division ( Florida undergraduates in the junior or senior year ) categories . Each prize winner earns a scholastic assistance grant in the amount of three thousand dollars ($ 3,000.00 ), paid directly to the individual . From 1997 thru 2019 our agency has awarded $ 360,500.00 in grants to help 105 deserving young people achieve success in college .
The nonprofit “ Negro Spiritual ” Scholarship Foundation operates Project GRADY-RAYAM to preserve a heritage within America ’ s musical legacy – the Negro spiritual song – and support a future for young people who strive for a college education .
