If there was just one common theme to becoming a successful business owner , it would be ' Against All Odds '. There is little to no initiatives designed or specified for you to achieve greatness . How much money you make is a non-factor to the direction or speed the world turns . Your success as a business owner only matters to you ... as it rightfully should .
Therefore , it is never a good time . There is never enough money . The family is always gonna be in need of something . The outlook is always bleak . The economy will always be slow . And the only thing there appears to be on your horizon is a long line of naysayers . Our Black History Business Leaders who have succeeded are not without exception , those who have succeeded , have succeeded Against All Odds .
Black History is fill with profiles of individuals who have accomplished great things . They did it without any of the technology and advancements we have today . They are remembered infinitely because they made no excuses and instead prevailed Against All Odds .
I believe " the Ink that writes our history has not run dry ." Today there are individuals who are doing great things and advancing us as a people , tomorrow they will be recorded as our Black History . Many of those individuals are on the pages of this Program Success edition .
Be encourage by the lives , lessons and legacies of our past Black History Makers . Sojourner Truth ' s tenacity to advocate for woman ' s rights in 1826 . The solitude of Arthur Ash , the first Black player selected to the United States Davis Cup team and the only Black man ever to win the singles title at Wimbledon , the US Open , and the Australian Open . The boldness of Texas Congresswoman Barbara C . Jordan to speak Truth to Power . Let ' s not forget but recognize Comer Cottrell resiliency with many entrepreneurial failures to making $ 80-million in sale in his Pro-Line Hair Care business . Joseph Randolph , who in 1810 opened America ' s first African Insurance Company in Philadelphia . Research James Forten , Samuel T . Wilcox , " Free Frank " ( Frank McWorter ) and William Alexander Leidesdorff , Jr ., then evaluate your current position as a business owner . You may discover that your path in more in-line with success then you thought . You certainly will gain greater insight and develop new skill from the life , lessons and legacies of those who succeeded Against All Odds .
