Positive People Profile Cheryl Seals Mobley Gonzales Equal Opportunity and Diversity University of North Florida� Jacksonville , Florida Black History 2016 mother of seven n d a female executive on the front lines of non-discrimination , Gonzalez ' s administration as UNF ' s Title IX program is recognized by her campus community , being nominated for the 2014 Susan B . Anthony Award for significant contributions to enhance gender equality at UNF . In 2015 , she helped steer UNF ' s efforts in diversity and inclusion , which resulted in the university receiving the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity ( HEED ) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity Magazine . In less than two years as a new member of the Jacksonville community She was nominated and received a 2013 Jacksonville Business Journal Diversity Award and represented her university as a Leadership Jacksonville 2012 graduate .
Most recently on the Duval County Republican Executive Committee through June 2015 where she served as Communications Director ( 2013- 14 ), she was also Business Development Chair and Communications Director for the Florida Assembly of Black Republicans ( 2011-14 ).
Today a UNF doctoral student and Director , Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity at University of North Florida she ' s consolidated her public service to include only two organizations in Duval County . She is member of the Board of Directors for the Wayman Community Development Corporation and James Weldon Johnson YMCA , and president of the Women ' s Missionary Society for Wayman Ministries . Statewide , she Remains chair of the Florida Advisory Council on Small and Minority Business Development and serves as a Florida State Small Business Development Center Advisory Board member .
Gonzalez started early in community involvement , serving in her church as a child and as student government president at Florida A & M University . Combining business acumen and a love for higher education , her work at Miami-Dade College , Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida State University included co-founding the Capital City Chamber of Commerce , Inc . in Leon County and establishing FSU ' s Office of Supplier Diversity . She leaves a legacy wherever she lives .
