Immediately upon reading the above caption , many take offense . Their first thoughts are of a traumatic situation where a child dies at birth , a love one lost in an automobile accident , a soldier killed in battle , cancer ending a life filled with promise , or any other painful situation totally out of anyone ' s personal control . These pains are momentous and no one desires nor deserves them , the statement is not meant for these conditions .
Everyone has goals they set out to accomplish in life . Many are ambitious and record breaking and history making . No one should be limited as prescribed in the statement " If your Mind can Conceive It , and your Heart can Believe It , then You can Achieve It !" Setting your mark high in life is a good thing .
Ask anyone successful in anything and they will tell you their road did began with the mental conception and the internal faith that it is possible . Then they will tell you of the process which included much work and sacrifice . This is the point many trains are derailed ... work and sacrifice . I have told many that if you only worked half as hard for yourself as you do for someone else ; you would make ten times the money . For some reason when it comes to working for ourselves and sacrificing for our goals , it becomes a task far too overbearing .
To be successful in reaching the ultimate goals in life requires work ; early and often . Working without being told . Working when no one is watching . Working without getting paid and with no immediate pay in sight . Realize there is a difference in work and activity . Work has to be actions that bring you closer each day to fulfilling your goal , like a brick mason laying brick by brick ... the evidence of his work is the wall standing tall . The difference in work and activity is work produces evidence of work .
Then there is the required Sacrifice which is best defined as delayed gratification . To many being Captain of Your Own Ship means doing whatever you want to do . However , the truth is the opposite , the things you want are place out of reach : cars , clothes , movies and dinner dates , concerts and travel . .. all delayed because of the needed investment in your personal and business development . To whom much is given much is required ... Sacrifice .
This is where the above statement becomes true . There is no " Secret to Success ". It is simply formatted in Work and Sacrifice . Many set out on the journey , but found the work too hard and the sacrifice too great . We hear all the time the Power of the Trillions of dollars the Black community generates each year . It shows our strength and at the same time our weakness . It shows we can and do work , and at the same time our Lack-ness and Neglect toward our own Business Development .
At some point in life we must be willing to accept that the desires of our hearts are marred and demolished by rationale faulting circumstance and not by ineptness . Most situations in our lives are totally under our control . Yes you can be Captain of Your Own Ship . At any time you can resolve to being better and doing better . Not just dreaming the dream , but working and sacrificing and realizing that faith without works is death . Therefore choose life and work to live a life more abundantly so that you may stand accomplished and declare with pride and power ... I Deserve It !
