AUSTRALIA | THEATRE MASTERCLASS Content + Process: A New Virtuosity “It’s harder to hurt someone if you know their story.” Australia’s leading arts and social change company, Big hART has drawn acclaim for making virtuosic artworks with the invisible, marginalised and disadvantaged of our nation. Collaborating with these communities, who are often denied a voice, this ambitious organisation gives these groups the tools with which to tell their own stories. In the process it has created critically acclaimed, awardwinning works across a diverse range of art forms, including theatre (Ngapartji Ngapartji, Hipbone Sticking Out), film (Drive, Hurt – see page 58), music (MURRU – see page 7) and the visual arts (Neomad). Join Big hART producers, artists and participants in an intimate Masterclass that will give you insight into Big hART’s unique model – creating stories that build understanding and create change for individuals, communities and audiences. All proceeds go towards Big hART’s Yijala Yala Project’s ‘One in Two’ campaign, which aims to address the fact that every second young person in juvenile detention in Australia is Indigenous.
