AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE
CONCEPT BY
AGATA CASTELLUCCI,
DEMETRIO CASTELLUCCI,
TEODORA CASTELLUCCI &
EUGENIO RESTA
Six eerie beings dance out a
ferocious drama amid the foreboding
rumblings of an icy alien landscape.
Winter fades, and spring blooms in
violence.
Dynamic young Italian artists’
collective Dewey Dell have joined
forces with manga artist Yuichi
Yokoyama and Kuro Tanino, Artistic
Director of Japanese theatre
company Niwagekidan Penino, to
create Marzo, an impeccably stylized
dance work with a stunning visual
aesthetic – eccentric and fantastical.

Lifting its name from William
Faulkner, Dewey Dell was formed in
2007 by four young artists: Teodora,
Demetrio and Agata Castellucci,
and Eugenio Resta. Last seen in
Melbourne as part of the Next
Wave Festival in 2012, Dewey Dell
continues to garner attention as a
unique and highly original force in
European dance.
Marzo is co-produced by steirischer herbst,
BUDA Kunstencentrum and Centrale Fies
Dro, with the support of Tanzfabrik Berlin and
the University of Zagreb – Student Centre
Zagreb – Culture of Change and Schaubühne
Lindenfels. Dewey Dell is supported by the
City of Melbourne through Arts House, and
by Advancing Performing Arts Projects, and is
part of the project Fies Factory/Centrale Fies.
