Aurora Orchestra, led by conductor
Nicholas Collon, is one of the most
exciting outfits in modern classical
music. Prodigiously talented and
restlessly inventive, they’ve spent
the past decade reinventing the
concept of the chamber orchestra,
cross-pollinating with other
genres and art forms to transform
themselves into something
adventurous, charismatic and
utterly unique.
Aurora makes its long-awaited
Australian debut with Melbourne
Festival in a week-long residency
that showcases its diverse
repertoire, breathtaking
musicianship and originality of
programming.
Aurora has worked with a roster of
world-class artists, and for their
Australian performances they are
joined by local songstress Katie
Noonan and English tenor Allan
Clayton (who recently graced our
shores as part of the Australian
Chamber Orchestra’s Beethoven
symphony series). There is
classical music for children too,
with a special program to remind
us all that you are never too young
to fall in love with music.
