This year, Melbourne Festival joins
with the Naomi Milgrom Foundation
to introduce a vibrant new feature
to Melbourne’s skyline. MPavilion is
a unique collision of architectural
design, art and performance space:
an intriguing new structure to serve
as a meeting place, a spontaneous
detour, a destination or a starting
point.
MPavilion is an ongoing project,
featuring a new design by a
different architect each year.
The 2014 iteration comes from
acclaimed Melbourne architect
Sean Godsell, the brains behind
the award-winning RMIT Design
Hub. Inspired by Australia’s iconic
outback sheds and verandas, the
structure responds to sunlight
– unfolding each morning like a
flower welcoming the people of
Melbourne.
