TOP MARITIME WOMEN IN NIGERIA Karen Ogidigben Director, Crew Management and Training at Hapag-Lloyd Karen is a woman who came to the maritime industry, saw and conquered. A Bachelor of Science graduate of Biochemistry, she had no knowledge of the maritime industry by the time she found herself there. The only relationship she had with the industry was growing up in a port city. But because of her enthusiasm to learn, she accepted the job offer from a shipping company to work in business development and crewing. To her, it was an opportunity to learn about the maritime industry. Her enthusiasm, passion and quick learning capacity were recognized by her employer who entrusted her with more responsibilities than her job title entailed. Karen now has diversified knowledge of the maritime industry with experience spanning crew and the industry. But her dexterity on ship management within the offshore, harbor/towage services the job made them think she was and container sectors in Africa, Middle East and Asia.
