Black Rooster Audio RO-GOLD Vintage Plate Reverb Plug-In
Black Rooster Audio has released its RO-Gold vintage plate reverb plug-in , modelled after the EMT 140 Reverberation Unit , upgraded with a 24k gold plate , and compatible with all major DAWs .
RO-Gold aims to take the sound of those sought-after hardware classics to all major DAWs , but also capture the true tone of a solid gold plate . This 24k unit allows anyone to set up their own retro room sound that can be both warm and mellow . Users can choose between 10 damper tions . Purposefully placed after the plate reverb emulation to enable users to modulate the posi- reverb tail with DAW automation , the classic pre / delay ( 0ms to 500ms ) control determines es the amount of delay between the dry and wet signals . Following the classic approach of send effects that run in parallel with the mix channel , the dry / wet ( 0 % to 100 %) control keeps the effect in-chain within the plug-in , without having to set up additional send / return loops ; and the bass cut control applies a high-pass filter that cuts the bass at any desired frequency between 10Hz and 1kHz . All are assisted by a VU meter that provides visual feedback or the reverb settings and signals .
Focal Solo6 Studio Monitors
Focal is shipping redesigned version of its Solo6 professional studio monitors . The new version of this powered monitor , originally released 15 years ago , offers increased sonic detail and more transparency . The new monitors also adopt innovations from Focal ’ s Trio11 Be monitors , includ- ing “ Focus Mode ” and more . The Solo6 features mounting points for wall and ceiling placement in immersive systems such as Dolby Atmos and Sony 360RA setups .
The monitors sport a new Beryllium tweeter design with an M-shaped protective cover and a new woofer with an increased frequency range to 10kHz , specifically designed for Focus Mode
. The Solo6 monitors include Focal ’ s Tuned Mass Damper ( TMD ) technology integrated into the new woofer design , offering as much as 50 % less distortion in the 1kHz to 3kHz frequency range — a feature borrowed from the flagship Trio11 monitors . A new cabinet design has a refined modern look that uses a thicker , more robust material . The cabinet interior features more reinforcement braces , both of which make the monitors more rigid and dampened , equating to less vibration and thus less distortion . The new version of Focus Mode offers a different speaker configuration at the press of a footswitch – like having a second pair of monitors with reduced dynamics for checking mixes and balance . The Solo6 has a one-way single-driver Focus Mode with no tweeter , replicating the concept of the ubiquitous Auratone monitors . Focus Mode is designed to let the engineer remain in the sweet spot when evaluating mixes and simplifies cabling and monitor switching .
Cherry Audio Galactic Reverb
Cherry Audio has expanded its line of plug-in effects processors with Galactic Reverb . It ’ s an algorithmic effects plug-in that captures the expansive sound of classic hardware digital reverbs . With a decay time up to 35 seconds , it enables users to create aural spaces with a large feel . Galactic works for transporting guitars , drums , keys , and even vocals into different ambiences .
Galactic Reverb began as an effect option in Cherry Audio ’ s Dreamsynth . Eventually , the plug-in was fine-tuned with added modulation and predelay , and equipped with an equalizer . A ducking function has also been added for automatically reducing reverb levels .
Like all Cherry Audio plug-ins , Galactic includes Cherry ’ s preset browser , with over 50 presets . It can be used as an insert or bus effect and is fully compatible with mono or stereo sources .
