We
kept it
simple this
issue, asking only
one question that we
thought would derive
some interesting
responses for our
readers:
In the last five years, what has been the most important new (to you)
product discovery for your work and why was it valuable, inspiring, and/or
useful?
“Waves Soundgrid. It enables me to create the same
quality and creativity of sound I can in a studio in a live
concert or streamed show.”
“AV-over-IP has been the most important new technolo-
gy for me. The whole ‘IT/AV convergence’ is now coming
to fruition, and we (the AV industry) are only recently
understanding the impact this has in our designs and
implementations. From a sound perspective, Dante and
other audio-over-IP is e qually important, as it forces
our industry to understand and play well with the IT
industry.”
“The Ardour digital audio workstation running on Linux.”
“The Digico SD9 – a game changer!”
“Wireless [mobile device] control
for mixers. Being able to walk the
room and stage and fine-tune the
sound coming from the stage and
adjusting monitors remotely.”
“The digital steerable loudspeaker.
We can solve acoustic problems in
a reverberant room with this type
of speaker.”
