Announces 2017 Election Results
AES143 Outlines Spatial Audio,
Archiving & Restoration Tracks
Organizers of the 143 rd International AES Convention have released details of the
Spatial Audio and the Archiving and Restoration educational tracks. The convention is
being held from Oct. 18-21, 2017 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.
The Spatial Audio Track will examine and explain advances in 3D audio and
immersive sound. The Crash Course in 3D Audio seminar will share the latest 3D audio
concepts, formats, and technologies. In the Perceptual Thresholds of Spatial Audio
Latency for Dynamic Virtual Auditory Environments seminar, Ravish Mehra of Oculus
Research will address the key factors in maintaining the VR illusion. Tom Ammermann
of New Audio Technology GmbH will demonstrate the technology behind Kraftwerk’s
new 3D Blu-ray release and more.
The Archiving and Restoration track will feature its most varied events schedule to
date, including in-depth looks at archiving the music of Star Wars and the prolific record-
ings of the Grateful Dead, media preservation techniques for the 21 st century, and more.

elections. The newly elected
officers will assume their
roles in October 2017, short-
ly after the end of the 143 rd
International AES Conven-
tion in New York.

of president-elect is Nadja
Wallaszkovits, who will serve first on the AES
board of governors and executive committee as
president-elect, fully assuming the presidency
in October 2018 for a one-year term. Joining the
board of governors as treasurer-elect is Richard
Wollrich, who will serve alongside Treasurer Garry
Margolis for one year, then begin a two-year term
as treasurer. Also in October, current President
Alex Case will remain on the executive committee
as past-
president for the 2017-2018 term, as current
President-Elect David Scheirman advances into
the presidency. The new VP for Central Region,
U.S. and Canada is Mike Porter. Porter is the owner
of Channel D Solutions and has 40-plus years of
experience in the Nashville audio industry.
