CEDAR DNS 8D Upgrades
CEDAR has announced two important updates for the DNS 8D , one for the firmware and the other for the hardware . The DNS algorithm has evolved significantly since it first appeared in the DNS1000 , and today ’ s DNS models are able to remove more noise , more easily , and with fewer artefacts than ever before . All DNS 8Ds from serial number 15020 onward have the new firmware installed as standard , while owners of existing units can upgrade them in just moments using a simple update that can be performed wherever they ’ re installed .
CEDAR is also upgrading the DNS 8D from serial number 15020 onward to use the latest white OLED displays . These offer improved clarity and , as before , users can adjust the brightness so that units can be operated comfortably in any lighting conditions .
Fulcrum Acoustic CCX8 and CCX15 Series Loudspeakers
Fulcrum Acoustic has announced its CCX8 series and CCX15 loudspeakers , with patented Passive Cardioid Technology . The CCX8 and CCX15 are coaxial , subcardioid loudspeakers that provide the output capability and pattern control of normal premium two-wa y systems in significantly more compact enclosures . Their trapezoidal-shaped enclosures allow for mounting very close to ceilings with minimal effect on sight lines , which facilitates acceptance by interior designers and architects . The CCX8 is an 8 ” system offered in two horn patterns and the CCX15 is a 15 ” system offered in five horn patterns .
The Passive Cardioid Technology by Fulcrum Acoustic addresses one of the major challenges of direct-radiating loudspeakers : excessive rear LF radiation . Unlike active cardioid loudspeakers , Fulcrum ’ s Passive Cardioid Technology does not require additional amplifiers or cancellation drivers . The CS212L provides about 7 dB of rear attenuation while the CS218L provides > 10dB . Both the CCX 8in and 15in models provide 7dB of LF attenuation in the rear hemisphere .
