STUDIO FLOOR
Teofilo : The first photo is of the subfloor of the studio , which is made up of 2 x 4-in . lumber assembled in a lattice work pattern . This is to allow the easy placement of the Rockwool insulation and the steel troughing that connects the wiring to and from each room . The three separate floating floors ( control room , live room , and isolation booth ) sit on Kinetics Fiberglass Isolation Pads .
The second photo shows audio and ethernet wiring being laid into the troughs before the last two layers of flooring go on top . The steel troughing is a 20-gauge steel , which helps reduce noise interference . There are four layers of flooring in total that sit on the subfloor . The first layer is 3 / 4-in . MDF , the second layer ( seen in this photo ) is 5 / 8-in . drywall , and the third layer is 3 / 4-in . plywood , while the last layer is finished 3 / 4-in . engineered hardwood .
The floating floor is a crucial component of the studio build , as all of the walls and ceiling sit solely on this floor . The isolation pads are the only point of contact to the outer shell of the unit .
