Teofilo : Location is key , as the studio is located less than 20 minutes away from Toronto ’ s Pearson International Airport and is minutes away from two of the major highways in the city . There is ample free parking on site and is central to many great restaurants , hotels , and even attractions like Vaughan Mills Mall and Canada ’ s Wonderland .
EMPTY SHELL
Teofilo :: The 2,500-sq . -ft . space with a ceiling of over 20 ft . was the perfect blank canvas for the studio . The trickiest part of designing the floor plan in the space was accommodating the large garage door at the back , which will end up being a blessing when instruments need to be loaded in through rainy or snowy weather .
FRAME & HVAC
Teofilo : This is a view from where the live room is built . The framing you see is 16-gauge steel and this 5 / 8-in . drywall layer is normally not needed for sound purposes , but was required by the city to meet the proper fire rating . The steel framing requires every metal-on-metal joint to be glued and screwed together to reduce unwanted vibrational noise . The HVAC system you see above is one of two in the unit . The one you see in this photo controls just the recording studio portion . There is a separate HVAC system for all of the common areas , including the upstairs office and podcast studio .
UPSTAIRS PODCAST STUDIO
Teofilo : The second-floor podcast studio has a separate kitchenette and lounge area from the main floor recording studio . It ’ s also not accessible by those in the recording studio , and vice versa . This is to give each client ( s ) their own private space . The podcast studio will include four Shure SM7B microphones and a RØDECaster Pro along with a large 70-in . TV that can be used to display a logo or any other images / video that may be used in a video recorded podcast . The room will also be acoustically treated .
