Audiotonix Acquires Slate Digital & Appoints John Bastianelli as CEO
Audiotonix has announced the acquisition of Slate Digital , the popular software plug-in developer for audio creation and production . With a brand portfolio that includes Allen & Heath , Calrec , DiGiCo , DiGiGrid , Group One Limited , KLANG : technologies , Solid State Logic , and Sound Devices , the transaction further enhances the groups significant presence in the professional audio creation and production markets . Following on from that announcement , Audiotonix have confirmed John Bastianelli as the new CEO of Slate Digital .
Slate Digital was co-founded in 2008 by Steven Slate and Fabrice Gabriel to create digital audio tools for professional producers , mixers , and engineers . Since then , they have successfully developed many popular software plug-ins , mixing and mastering audio processing software , virtual microphone modelling , audio samples , and video courses .
Bastianelli brings a wealth of technology and creative expertise to the role , with 30 years ’ experience as a professional audio industry executive , music producer , songwriter , and musician . A well-respected figure in the music technology industry , Bastianelli has been at the helm of product management teams for leading audio brands including PreSonus , M-Audio , and Tascam . At each of these organizations he has been responsible for delivering new product innovation backed by commercial success , Audiotonix says .
With this new appointment , Slate Digital Co-Founders Steven Slate and Fabrice Gabriel will both take part-time consultancy roles within Slate Digital .
Women ’ s Audio Mission Receives Funding & Praise from Imagine Dragons ’ Ben McKee
Women ’ s Audio Mission ( WAM ), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of women and gender-expansive individuals in music production and the recording arts , was honoured when Ben McKee , bassist for platinum-selling band Imagine Dragons , visited its professional
BEN MCKEE studio in San Francisco and shot a video praising WAM ’ s work and calling on supporters to donate to the organization .
McKee , an outspoken activist on social media , came to WAM ’ s San Francisco studios and was inspired to make a video , sharing his experiences in the studio and why WAM ’ s mission is important . “ In all the years I ’ ve spent recording in studios all around the world with the band , we ’ ve noticed that there is an incredible lack of gender-diversity in the rooms that we ’ re recording in ,” he said . “ The people that are engineering the recording sessions that you hear , or podcasts , or music - less than 5 % of those people are female or gender-diverse and WAM is working to change that .”
WAM is raising funds to support its youth programs , studio artist residencies , and internships , and aims to reach $ 200,000 USD by Jan . 1 , 2023 .
