The NAMM Show 2018 Amplifies Focus on Pro Audio
Through partnerships with the Audio Engineering Society ( AES ), Advanced Audio + Applications Exchange ( A3E ), and the Entertainment Services and Technology Association ( ESTA ), The NAMM Show 2018 will be offering a significantly enhanced professional audio and production technologies education program from Jan . 25-28 . As well , the newly expanded Anaheim Convention Center will offer a much larger selection of pro audio brands on the exhibition floor .
The A3E Summit will feature a series of discussions dedicated to the future of advanced audio applications and new music technologies . The 36 sessions feature case studies and expert panel discussions delving into the developments transforming the music and audio industries and cover topics including sensor technology for musical instruments , the future of MIDI , artificial intelligence , VR and AR for audio developers , machine learning , wearable technology , and more .
The inaugural AES @ NAMM Pro Sound Symposium : Live & Studio comprises a high-end education and training program targeted at professionals working in live sound , recording , and audio for the performing arts . AES @ NAMM is fee-based , with limited seating secured through advance registration . The program will feature day-long training conducted by manufacturers of contemporary live sound consoles and studio DAWs , in addition to half-day line array loudspeaker system training . There will also be entertainment wireless and system optimization educational themes , including classroom training of hardware- and software-based products from these fields . Renowned author and engineer Bobby Owsinski will host a special Studio & Recording Technology Session Series , while John Murray will oversee Science & Technology Sessions , including Measurement and System Optimization . The program also includes AES technical papers and workshops .
Under the guidance of ESTA , Timeless Communications , and Lighting & Sound America , emerging and established professionals will learn from industry luminaries in a hands-on environment in a series of sessions and tracks . The Pro Production Sessions will feature topics related to lighting , video , and sound . Top production
designers will share their creative process and implementation and tour managers will give advice on logistics , packing , and managing major stadium tours .
The new programs are in addition to the return of the TEC Tracks sessions , which focus on studio technology , and Audinate ’ s free Dante certification training . These educational sessions will take place at the new NAMM U Education Center at the Hilton Anaheim , located next door to the Anaheim Convention Center .
The convention centre ’ s new ACC North Hall will showcase two connected levels , expanding the size of The NAMM Campus by 20 per cent . The new space will host exhibitors in the show ’ s areas of expansion , including live sound , lighting , and staging .

Roland Pro AV Canada Names Russell Williams as National Sales Manager
Roland Canada has announced the hiring of Russell Williams as its new national sales manager for the professional AV division . He is based out of Toronto .
As a product sales specialist , Williams has spent 20 years in various countries working within the pro AV , photo , and print industries . In addition , he is trained as a commercial photographer with education in video production and editing .
Williams says he is excited to move back to his roots in manufacturer sales , applying his experience to help and support Roland ’ s professional AV division . Of his recent appointment , Williams says , “ I am really excited to join Roland as the new national sales manager for pro AV .
