JIM COX SPEAKING AT AN AES TORONTO EVENT IN 2018
RIP : Jim Cox , 1945-2022
Widely-loved Canadian audio industry veteran Jim Cox passed away on June 28 , 2022 . Jim was heavily involved in the Toronto audio community , particularly through the Toronto AES , and as a teacher at Sheridan College .
“ Jim Cox was a huge part of the soul and energy of the Toronto AES , with that force often extending out to the AES international organization , where Jim actively engaged in the section meetings at our yearly international conventions . His steadfast commitment , guidance , and integrity will be missed !” says Earl McCluskie to Professional Sound .
Jim ’ s family shared the following obituary :
“ Jim Cox died at home with Joan , after suffering from leukemia . Jim is survived by his wife , Joan , and daughter , Meryle . He will be remembered by his cousins , Betty Jean Hutton and Elizabeth Bain , as well as his many friends and former students .
“ After studying film at Boston University , Jim travelled for a year and then attended McMaster University for postgrad work ., where he and Joan met in the McMaster Dramatic Society . After a brief stint at TVO , Jim started teaching film and audio at Sheridan College , staying there for over 30 years until he retired . His favorite course , which he created , was the History of Popular Music . He was also proud of teaching Audio for Film and said ‘ I pulled out talent from my students .’ He remained friends with many of his former students and delighted in engaging with them on Facebook .”
The funeral service for Jim was held at Maple Grove United Church on July 2 nd . Jim ’ s family says that donations can be made in his memory to the Maple Grove United Church or to the Canadian Cancer Society .

Amphion Loudspeakers has opened its new headquarters in Kuopio , Finland . The 19,000-sq . - ft . facility includes an increase in manufacturing and stock space , purpose-designed R & D rooms , and demo areas for the brand ’ s home and studio lines of monitoring . The increases in business led Amphion ’ s leadership to reimagine its facilities to better represent the scope and capabilities of its product lines , and by extension the needs of its growing customer base .

Steve Hendee Shifts Focus to Export Sales at Yorkville Sound
After three decades with Ontario-based manufacturer and distributor Yorkville Sound , including 10 years as director of U . S . sales , Steve Hendee is shifting his focus to overseeing Yorkville ’ s Export Sales division . With this change in position , Hendee has moved from Niagara Falls , NY to Florida , and will continue his Export duties out of his home office .
While working as Yorkville ’ s director of sales , export management has been a central part of Hendee ’ s day-to-day focus . The company says he will continue to manage relationships with all of Yorkville ’ s export partners from around the globe to ensure their success with Yorkville ’ s catalog
