After a long dry spell in the event industry , Prolight + Sound is slated to return . From April 26 to 29 , 2022 , this staple convention within the entertainment technology sector will offer optimum opportunities for presenting new solutions for eye-popping shows , successful business events , emotional visitor experiences , and impressive studio productions . Registration for Prolight + Sound 2022 is now open – companies can declare their participation at the early-booking rate until July 31 st and save up to 13 % per square metre . RIP Al Nichols : Renowned Pro Audio Veteran Passes Away at 71
Al Nichols , a distinguished veteran of the North American pro audio products industry , passed away in June at the age of 71 .
Nichols grew
AL NICHOLS up in Chatham , ON , where he would graduate from Chatham-Kent Secondary school , and subsequently studied music performance at the University of Windsor .
Upon entering the pro audio sector , Nichols focused his attention on pro mixing consoles , and spent many years representing a variety of high-end brands . He was the national sales manager for Klark-Teknik and Midas from 1990 to 1996 before a three-year term as VP of sales and marketing for Soundcraft and Amek in the U . S . He then went on to represent Crest Audio as its director of sales and marketing in 1999 , and then subsequently served as Allen & Heath ’ s director of sales from 2000 to 2003 .
From 2004-2009 , Nichols held the mantle of U . S . sales manager for DiGi- Co , before becoming a sales manager for Avid ’ s digital consoles from 2009- 2011 . Finally , from 2011-2013 served as U . S . sales manager for Optocore .
Throughout his career representing some of the most foremost brands in the pro audio market , Nichols became a well-known , respected , and loved member of the community and will be greatly mourned .
