iZotope RX6 Noise Reduction & Audio Repair Software

O
ur studio recently had the oppor-
tunity to put iZotope’s latest audio
restoration suite, RX6, through its
paces. iZotope has traditionally
done a great job of scaling its tools for sale to
all tiers of users, from hobbyists to world-class
production facilities. In this test, we had our
hands on the flagship RX6 Advanced, which
contains the full tool kit for repairing audio
problems that many of us encounter on a day-
to-day basis. So often we are toiling away on
the details of a music mix or post-production
project and get to thinking, “I sure wish I had
a tool for this very specific and nuanced prob-
lem…” Well, iZotope has come up with some
truly great solutions.
In Use
Included in RX6 are improvements to repair
modules seen in their previous release, RX5,
as well as brand new modules, workflow
improvements, layout improvements, and
more. Here, I’ll run down a small sampling of
the repair tools I found myself revisiting during
tests while working on a dialogue edit for a fea-
ture film as well as restoration for a music mix.
