February Freeze Ups Educational Offerings with Expanded 2-Day Show
New for 2018 , William F . White ’ s annual February Freeze technology showcase and educational event expanded to two days , held from Feb . 6-7 at the William F . White Centre in Toronto .
The first day featured a format that regular attendees would be familiar with , with the exhibition hosting around 50 vendors from the film and TV technology sector , covering audio , video , lighting , and more . For day one , the seminar program included a panel discussion on horror movie making in Canadian cinema , as well as the Technology vs . Creativity : POV of a DP panel hosted by Canadian cinematographers who discussed the challenges they face when trying to incorporate both technology and creativity into a project .
Day two of February Freeze was solely focused on technical education , with Techni + - Contact Canada / Beyerdynamic , Moss LED , Arri Camera and Arri Lighting , and Sony all giving hands-on , product-specific seminars .

Martin Audio Adds to North American Product Support Team

Martin Audio North America has named Paul Giansante as its new product support specialist for the U . S . and Canada . In this position , Giansante will provide technical support services and training in the U . S . and Canada to the sales team , distributors , and dealers . He will also assist in the development of new products , as well as identify and report sales opportunities . Additionally , Martin Audio has added to its Product Support Group with the hiring of Ben Tucker , which the company says reflects the demand for in-field support for live sound production and training .
Dan Orton , head of the Product Support Group , says : “ The now six-strong team is set up to be adaptable in order to support customers anywhere in the world , rather than being region specific . This allows us to better balance different application demands coming from different regions at different times of the year .”

Avid Appoints Jeff Rosica as New CEO to Replace Louis
Hernandez Jr .
Avid ’ s board of directors has appointed Jeff Rosica as CEO of the company . This comes after the board terminated former CEO Louis Hernandez Jr . due to unspecified violations of company policies related to workplace conduct . Hernandez has also resigned from his position on the Avid board of directors , with Nancy Hawthorne since being elected chairman .
Rosica , who joined Avid in early 2013 , has more than 30 years ’ experience in broadcast , media , and entertainment . Prior to his role as CEO , he served as senior VP and chief sales and marketing officer for the company .
