John Dickson Joins Robe North America ’ s Sales Team
Robe North America expands its sales team with the appointment of John Dickson as central U . S . sales manager .
Based in Austin , TX , Dickson brings over 25 years of industry experience as a lighting designer , programmer , and technician to Robe , where he will be actively engaged in exploring new opportunities while developing and servicing current business in this large and diverse geographical area .
Dickson and Craig Burros , who leads the Robe North America sales teams , go back to the 1990s , the embryonic early days of the moving
JOHN DICKSON light industry when they both cut their teeth working at High End Systems in Austin . Dickson worked in quality control and on the manufacturing side , before leaving in 1996 to develop his creative and imaginative skills as a lighting designer and programmer with LD Systems in Houston . After 21 years there , he joined CT ( Creative Technology ) America , also as a project manager , which expanded his visual horizons to include more video .
With the convergence of lighting and video becoming ever more pervasive in shows and events , now is an ideal time to amalgamate all those skills and his many contacts into the new role for Robe , he says . Robe says Dickson brings a host of other skills to the table , including a well-rounded knowledge and understanding of the daily creative and technical challenges facing anyone in show production . He can talk to designers , programmers and technicians in their own language and understands the multiple interconnected layers involved in running and maintaining a commercially successful operation .

EICC hires Ollie Jeffery as Director of Event Operations & Technical
The Edinburgh International Conference Centre ( EICC ) has hired Royal Albert Hall executive Ollie Jeffery as director of event operations and technology . Jeffery spent over 18 years with the Royal Albert Hall , most recently as head of production and technical .
Jeffery ’ s experience at the Royal Albert Hall included developing the venue ’ s lighting and audio
OLLIE JEFFERY services , establishing an apprentice scheme , and supporting the delivery of around 400 events a year .
In June , Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced that it has entered a franchise agreement with the EICC for a 349-bedroom hotel in the Haymarket area of the city . The hotel , set to open in 2025 , will be Hyatt ’ s first hotel in Scotland , and will address the delegate demand issues the EICC has historically faced . The hotel school and training academy will partner with Edinburgh College , providing a pipeline of qualified people for Scotland ’ s leisure and tourism industry . Also in June , the EICC announced that it had taken on the management and operations of Convention Edinburgh to help drive the city ’ s business events sector .
In May , the EICC announced that it has secured a series of high-profile U . K . and international conferences for 2023 , collectively bringing thousands of delegates to Edinburgh next year while providing millions of pounds of economic activity to the city and region .

Prolight + Sound Opens Submissions for the Sinus - Systems Integration Award
Since 2004 , the Sinus - Systems Integration Award has put the spotlight on top achievements in AV media technology , be it in brand and experience worlds , museums and theme parks , or in conference and collaboration rooms . The prize is awarded annually at the Prolight + Sound show in Frankfurt , Germany . Next year ’ s show is taking place from April 25-28 . Companies and professionals in the industry are now invited to submit their showcase projects to the competition .
The Sinus is considered one of the most renowned awards for the planning and installation of audiovisual systems . An expert jury , consisting of association members , industry experts , media representatives , and representatives of Messe Frankfurt , selects the winning projects from all entries . A decisive criterion in the jury ’ s decision is the outstanding interaction of artistic ambition and innovative technical implementation .
The patrons of the award are the Association of Media and Event Technology ( VPLT e . V .), the European Association of Event Centres ( EVVC e . V .) and Messe Frankfurt . In 2022 , Sinus was given to the art project “ Les Bassins des Lumières ” in Bordeaux , France ( pictured ). The technically-elaborate installation invites culture enthusiasts to immerse themselves in a sea of images , colours , sounds , and history on the site of a former submarine bunker .
