John Devries Joins Datavideo as National Sales Manager for Canada
AV and broadcast solutions provider Datavideo named industry veteran John Devries as its national sales manager for Canada . The company says Devries ’ experience with live production , streaming , and system design / sales in the AV market fits Datavideo ’ s growing product categories , which include switchers , encoders , PTZ and block cameras , 4K solutions , converters , and recording devices .
“ I have been watching Datavideo grow and been very impressed with its business direction , especially in the world of streaming ,” Devries says . “ I ’ m looking forward to growing Datavideo further in Canada . There ’ s a great team at Datavideo .”
Devries has worked at multiple AV rep firms . In addition , he was a sound engineer and AV consultant . He was also a former VP of sales and marketing at RP Dynamics and a former sales manager for Roland Pro AV Canada .
Benoit Guilbert will remain part of the Datavideo team as its sales rep for Quebec . Guilbert ’ s role will also include being a streaming consultant for the new DV Cloud service being introduced by Datavideo .

LightFair 2021 Moved from May to October
LightFair 2021 will be postponed until October 2021 . The announcement was made on Nov . 10 th by the International Association of Lighting Designers ( IALD ), the Illuminating Engineering Society ( IES ), and International Market Centers ( IMC ). The annual showcase of new innovations in lighting design moves to Oct . 27-29 and the accompanying educational conference is now scheduled for Oct . 25-29 , 2021 at the Jacob K . Javits Center in New York City .
“ Participation at LightFair is critical to advancing innovation in the industry , so we are dedicated to presenting the most advantageous tradeshow and conference experience possible . In 2021 , that means moving to the fall ,” says Dan Darby , LightFair ’ s show director . “ When our industry reconnects physically after more than two years , we are committed to delivering a memorable and safe experience for everyone with incredible discovery , networking and learning opportunities .”
“ Staging LightFair in October 2021 allows us to facilitate a safer and more successful event that will best serve attendees and exhibitors ,” adds Marsha L . Turner , IALD ’ s CEO . “ In making this decision , we factored in various aspects of the impact the pandemic has had on our industry and our members ’ businesses and decided waiting five months would alleviate most of those concerns .”
LightFair organizers say they anticipate a strong tradeshow based on the date change and plans to present the same floor plan as designed for May 2021 . Exhibitors who had committed to the May 2021 tradeshow are able to keep their locations for the October 2021 staging . Additionally , a new “ Ease of Mind ” cancellation policy ensures exhibitors ’ investments are protected if conditions do not improve in 2021 .

MICHAEL TAIT AT THE 2019 PARNELLI AWARDS
Parnelli Awards Taking a Gap Year in 2021
Organizers have confirmed that the 2021 Parnelli Awards , which would usually be held in January during The NAMM Show , has been cancelled . Instead , it will take a “ gap year ” and return in 2022 .
“ With NAMM cancelling their in-person trade show , we must cancel too . Being that it was the 20 th anniversary of the Parnellis , it ’ s particularly disappointing ,” says Executive Producer Terry Lowe .
The awards show will simply take the year off , Lowe added , and the three lifetime honorees will receive their awards along with all the other awards recipients in January 2022 .
“ We look forward to tours happening again , hopefully by early next year ,” Lowe continues . “ Meantime , everyone stay safe and we ’ ll see you on the other side of this .”
