Afterglow is a concept that Canadian electro-alternative artist Rayannah had originally planned as a moving art exhibit , in which the attendees walk through the space surrounded by dancers , contortionists , drag performers , and herself . However , with COVID restrictions in place , this plan evolved into what it is now . The attendees were replaced with a camera on a dolly track for a one-shot livestream experience that made viewers feel like they were in the space . Lighting and set designer Miguel Fortier surrounded Rayannah with a column of light , and created separate areas and moods for each performer . With the help of Stephanie Kuse ( video projection designer ) and Winnipeg ’ s Red Rover Entertainment ( lighting programming , management , video support ), the team was able to create a visual environment that was cohesive , interesting , and camera-friendly .
