‘ Safe Travels Stamp ’ Program Announced for Canadian Live Music Industry
The Canadian Live Music Association ( CLMA ) has partnered with the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario ( TIAO ) who is administering the national Safe Travels Stamp program in Canada . The Safe Travels Stamp is an international symbol designed to help travellers to quickly recognize businesses and organizations that have adopted standardized health and hygiene protocols . Eligible companies , such as live music venues , festivals , and others , will be able to display the stamp based on worldwide industry protocols the World Travel and Tourism Council ( WTTC ) has put together for every aspect of the hospitality and tourism sector .
“ We know that millions of Canadians are excited to return to live music just as soon as it ’ s safe to do so . That ’ s why our members continue to invest heavily in the protection of fans , artists , and crew , leveraging best practices from at home and around the world . With thanks to TIAO ’ s leadership , the Safe Travels Stamp program will help us all to feel safe when we re-engage with the music and live experiences we miss so much ,” says Erin Benjamin , president and CEO of the CLMA .

2021 Prolight + Sound Cancelled
Messe Frankfurt has decided , following close consultation with its customers and partners , to cancel the Prolight + Sound show planned for April 2021 .
The organizers say that since the annual spring event is essential for the trend-based order cycles in the entertainment , technology , consumer goods , and textile industries , it means that postponing these events until the second half of the year would not serve the interests of exhibitors .
As a result of the current situation and ongoing travel restrictions , exhibitors are faced with huge uncertainties regarding who will be allowed to be present and their customer contacts , making it extremely difficult to commit to trade fair participation .
Due to the fact that physical events are not possible , Messe Frankfurt has created numerous digital offerings for its customers . Consumer Goods Digital Day on April 20 , 2021 , for example , offer customers the opportunity to get together at a digital location where they can engage in dialogue and obtain information .
Expo-Scène 2021 Cancelled
The CITT / ICTS Board of Directors has announced the cancellation of Expo-Scène 2021 .
The 2021 edition was scheduled to take place on March 31 and April 1st , 2021 , at the Palais des congrès de Montréal . However , the ongoing COVID-19 situation prevailing in the province of Québec has forced the organization to once again postpone the event .
“ The Palais des congrès de Montréal remains closed and we have reason to believe that the prohibition of indoor gatherings will be maintained , making it impossible to present Expo-Scène live , in person , as was intended ,” the organization says in a press release .
Many industry events , such as CITT / ICTS ’ Rendez-vous 2020 have been able to transition to online virtual events .
“ The point of an industry trade show is to be ‘ hands on ’, so we have elected to delay Expo-Scène to 2022 . By then we hope that , with the introduction of effective vaccines , we will once again be able to hold large in-person events in Canada .” Expo-Scène 2022 will take place on April 13 and 14 , 2022 at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal .
