On Tuesday , February 7 th , William F . White played host to record-breaking February Freeze attendance as over 1,000 production professionals descended upon the William F . White Centre in Toronto to view the latest screen-based technologies and advancements .
This year ’ s showcase featured an expanded footprint along with extended hours and new features . These included the Indie Village , with educational panels featuring representatives from organizations such as CBC Creators Network , Telefilm Canada , and BravoFact .
February Freeze also shone a spotlight on two major new initiatives : the recently-launched Whites Camera department and newlyrelocated Whites Location Equipment Supply ( Whites LES ). Whites Camera also presented its first-ever anamorphic panel featuring some of Canada ’ s most renowned DPs .

AVL Takes on Canadian Distribution of GLP
GLP President Mark Ravenhill has announced the appointment of AVL Media Group as his company ’ s new Canadian distributor .

LFI to Highlight IoT & Connectivity in 2017 Conference Program
Lightfair International ( LFI ) returns to Philadelphia ’ s Pennsylvania Convention Center for its 28 th annual staging from May 7-11 , 2017 .
For 2017 , the conference program has 75 courses , including 12 forum sessions . The IoT & Smart Lighting Forum features experts on controls , sensors , and connectivity and strives to address both the potential and challenges of IoT ( Internet of Things ) and whether smart lighting extends beyond using connectivity for energy efficiency and maintenance .
The Light & Health Forum will help identify the current knowledge of the impact of light on biological health and overall well-being , as well as addressing current issues , such as the potential for blue light as a hazard .
Show organizers have also announced that LFI will move to Chicago , IL next year , running from May 6-10 , 2018 .

ETC & Barco Discussing Sale of High End Systems
ETC and Barco have announced they are in the midst of serious discussions wherein ETC would acquire High End Systems from Barco . While the timeline for the completion of this acquisition is still unknown , both parties say they are committed to completing the transaction .
Wim Buyens , senior VP of Barco ’ s Entertainment division , says , “ For Barco , the divestment of its lighting activities is in line with its strategy to sharpen the focus on its core activities . We believe joining forces with ETC would enable High End Systems to realize its full business potential while providing ongoing support and opportunity development for its customers , and we appreciate ETC ’ s commitment to maintain High End ’ s operations in Austin and fully support the development of High End ’ s products .”
