Denalee’s motto “Where there is a will, there is a way” enabled her to become a seasoned businesswoman and entrepreneur. Now a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, she obtained her Mortuary Degree from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Penn-Mackey Penn embarked upon this venture at a very early age in life when the opportunity arose during a work release program incorporated with her high school, where she worked at a local Funeral Home to gain some experience in the field before going off to college. Upon graduating from The Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, Dallas Texas, Denalee returned home and gained employment with various funeral homes while serving her apprenticeship. In the year of 2003, Mrs. Penn-Mackey gave birth to a business of her own, namely Evergreen Mortuary, as she had envisioned operating her very own Business. Mrs. Denalee Penn-Mackey has certainly weathered many heavy storms, torrential rain and excessive growing pains. She rose to each challenge and emerged more than a conqueror. Today she stands as the youngest Female owner of a Funeral Home in a male-dominated profession and in the Bahamas. Her charming personality has built a reputation for being able to bring the dead back to life, by continually spinning her web of expertise, in the area of embalming, restorative arts, dressing & the application of cosmetics to the beautify the dead. She certainly creates memories that will last, for her faithful clientele. In 2010, Mrs. Penn- Mackey introduced a new flare to the Funeral Industry with the SUV line of transportation for the family and also an SUV hearse. Denalee is the wife of Terrance Mackey & the mother of D’Asia & Te’Ajae Mackey. Mrs-Penn-Mackey has done exceptionally well, building better and aiming high. She is a recipient of The Women of Distinction Award 2016, and also a recipient of the Women under 40 award in the area of entrepreneurship award, and was also nominated for the Icon award in the year of 2017. In the year of 2014, Mrs. Penn-Mackey opened a second branch in Marsh Harbour Abaco, and in October of 2017 a third full pledge funeral Home in Hopper’s Bay Exuma birth, which has brought convenience, comfort, ease and accessibility to the island.
