Edge distance (c a1 ) is measured from the face of the slab (outer face of the EDGE Plate). Corner and edge distances are measured to the center of the anchor. Figure 2.2.7.15 — Minimum edge and corner distances for HAC EDGE Lite, HAC EDGE, and HAC S EDGE, plan view Minimum edge distance for anchor channels in composite slabs The minimum edge and corner distances for HAC EDGE are consistent with the minimum requirements of HAC. In response to the market trends such as composite slabs with pockets, Hilti has added HAC EDGE with shorter anchor lengths. Figure 2.2.7.14 — HAC S EDGE C dimensions, section and elevation view. 60 Chapters 8 and 9 provide design information for HAC EDGE in composite slabs and how to account for the potential negative influence of the metal deck. Figure 2.2.7.17 — HAC EDGE in a composite slab, section view. Cast-In Anchor Channel Product Guide, Edition 1 • 02/2019 61 HAC S EDGE C has rebars that are located one rebar diameter below the bottom base of the anchor channel profile to avoid clashing with the rebars of the opposite corner channel (HAC S EDGE). The plate is taller and thicker. For composite slabs where there is a pour stop along the perimeter of the edge of slab preventing oxygen from reaching out to the bottom of the slab and concrete cover of the anchor is not required, the minimum member thickness can be reduced. Although the HAC EDGE product line are not implicitly covered in AC232, AC232 provides testing protocols for anchor channels to establish the minimum edge and corner distance for the minimum member thickness. The following substrate requirements have been established in accordance with testing protocols of AC232. Anchor Channel Symbol 9.
