3. Why did my POP XG™ shade look or turn a different color when applied to the hair? Your selected, or custom, POP XG™ shade will always mix with the underlying or prominent pigment left in the hair after pre-lightening. Before formulating your shade, refer to the prelightening chart in the POP XG™ Paper Chart to help ensure predictability and longevity. Once pre-lightened, test strand the mixed color before applying. 4. How often should my guest wash their hair? Frequency of shampooing is a large factor in the longevity of direct dyes and POP XG™ guests should only wash their hair as often as needed. Suggest Dry Wash® for those that feel as though their natural oils encourage frequent washing. Daily shampooing is not recommended. Also, advise to avoid salt and chlorinated water. 5. Are there any tips for greater longevity with warm and cool colors? For better longevity with warm tones (such as Pink and Orange), add small quantities of Red. To increase longevity in cool tones (such as Green, Purple and Teal), add small quantities of Blue. 6. How can I ensure that the hair canvas is healthy enough to produce predictable results? Follow all recommendations on the POP XG™ Paper Chart: Shampoo the hair after prelightening and dry prior to applying POP XG™ formula(s). Pre-treating the hair with robust, moisturizing conditioners and treatments will hinder longevity. Porosity after shampooing will provide the best canvas for direct dyes. 7. What types of dyes are used? POP XG™ contains globally compliant direct dyes. Its longevity results from its concentration, density and dye type. 8. What’s the pH of POP XG™? The pH of POP XG™ is 7. 9. What is the recommended processing time? Is heat required? We recommend processing POP XG™ for 30 minutes (except for Opalescent, see instructions). Heat is not recommended and won’t enhance vibrancy because the dyes sit on the surface and are not oxidized. Heat may actually thin the product’s consistency and encourage dripping and/or unwanted staining. 10. Can POP XG™ be heat-stamped? No, we do not recommend heat-stamping. Also, use of a hot flat iron following a POP XG service can instantly remove color. Use only cool settings under 300 degrees. 11. What’s the best way to avoid staining the scalp? We recommend applying POP XG™ directly on the hair to avoid saturating the skin, and using Color Block® around the hairline and ears. 12. Can POP XG™ be mixed with developer to make it last longer? No—it’s a direct dye system, which means there are no dyes available to oxidize. Mixing it with developer will actually inhibit its performance. 13. What makes the POP XG™ base so conditioning? It’s a thick, rich cream with a neutral pH. 2
