Jointly protecting products and know-how
Know-how zu sichern.
Produkt- und Know-how- Schutz (AG Protect-ing)
gegründet. Diese bündelt die Interessen der
Anbieter von Technologien und Dienstleistungen
zum Produkt- und Know-how-Schutz und ist
dabei erster Ansprechpartner im Kampf gegen
Plagiateure, Industriespione und Know-how-
Diebe.
The competitiveness of German enterprises in gen-
eral and the mechanical and plant engineering
industry in particular largely depends on their abil-
ity to protect their research findings and methodo-
logical competence. Competition is increasingly
global, intense and tough. Thus, companies not
only face a challenge but a commitment to pro-
tecting their products and essential know-how.
Offenders often remain invisible; the threat seems
to be an abstract one. However, once a counterfeit
product has been produced and put on the market
and once core know-how has been tapped, the
consequences will become painfully obvious by
losing one‘s market leadership and experiencing
declining market shares or narrowing competitive
margins.
VDMA therefore established a working group on
product and know-how protection („AG Protect-
ing“) as part of its strategy against product piracy.
The working group is a melting pot of the technol-
ogy and service providers‘ interests in product and
know-how protection and acts as a first contact
when it comes to fighting plagiarism, industrial
espionage and know-how theft.
AG Protect-ing focuses on six key elements:
Sechs Ansätze stehen in der Arbeitsgemeinschaft
Protect-ing im Fokus des Interesses:
1. Produkte kennzeichnen
Kennzeichnungstechnologien sind sichtbare
oder unsichtbare Sicherheitsmerkmale, mit
denen Produktoriginalität und -echtheit nach-
gewiesen werden können. Beispiele sind Holo-
gramme, Data-Matrix-Codes, RFIDs, spezielle
Druckverfahren oder Materialbeimischungen.
2. Geschützte Produkte authentifizieren
Um Originalprodukte zu detektieren und zu
authentifizieren, sind Geräte und Systeme in
Entwicklung, mit denen Sicherheitsmerkmale
1. Product identification
Identification technologies comprise visible
and invisible security features aimed at proving
product originality and authenticity. Examples
include holograms, data matrix codes, RFIDs,
special printing methods, or added materials.
2. Authentication of protected products
Ongoing, yet unfinished engineering efforts aim
at designing equipment and systems able to
detect and authenticate original products and to
recognise, read and check the originality of secu-
rity features. They typically include RFID readers,
optical sensors or image processors some of which
