My name is PEPPLE BIEBELE JOSEPH, a 300 level mechanical engineering student and I attend the Rivers State University. Few years ago, I attended Government Girls’ Secondary School, Bonny Island. I was mostly focused on my books and getting good grades, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but I wasn't aware that there was more to life than just that. My friend introduced me to THE YOUTH RESOURCE CENTRE (YRC) when I was in SS2.

For the short period I was there, I learnt so much both academically and morally. I developed leadership, and time management skills, teamwork, effective communication and critical thinking amongst others. These skills are even more beneficial to me now than it was then.

In my department, I put to use all that I have learned and I recently emerged as the Vice president of my department. I know that this is just a stepping stone as I hope to apply myself some more and this is all thanks to YRC. The Youth resource Centre is the place for every youth that is serious about their future.

The impact of the Youth Resource Center in my life has been tremendous and continuous. Being a part of the community provided life changing conversations, quality books, idea sessions and other community based programs focused on youth development has positively influenced my life’s journey. My relationship with other young adults and mentors of the centre in general transcends proximity because I have gained a family that is genuinely interested in my growth.

I also learnt the importance of collaborations and as such, I was able to collaborate with a team that included Ibifiri Fombo (A YRC Ambassador) in organising TEDx Rivers State University.

Being part of the Youth Resource Centre has opened my eyes to see solutions to problems and act on it through the little ways I can which also involves applying my skills. God bless the day I followed King Jaja Street as a route back from secondary school. Thanks you YRC for having me be part of this big family,

Ted Justice Tolofari.
