chidinma shares her story

served at the Youth Resource Center (YRC) for 10 months in 2018 under the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) and it was a great learning experience. I strongly believe that passion is the most important ingredient for success. YRC confirmed that belief.

I cried at first when I learnt of my posting to Bonny Island as I am aquaphobic , but then I got to Bonny anyways because I had no choice and I tell you, it was worth every tear that rolled off my eyes.

My experience at YRC was indeed mind blowing. Tolerance and patience were some of the great virtues I learnt from working with the young adults everyday at the Centre. The joy I felt as I left home everyday to work to see a person smile, and knowing you contribute to that smile, gives ultimate and internal satisfaction. Not everything is done to get returns ; social work and charity has a value which is what YRC is about.

I remember and cherish every moment spent with the kids and my colleagues at the Centre. Each day was a new day, with new targets, new tasks and different challenges. Thank you very much Team YRC for touching my life, God bless you all.
