One of the major problems presented was that the rain started to affect the monasteries structure and the humidity affected the mural paintings. So the damage budget has to be reconciled due to the new deteriorations. “Considering the urgency of repairing the damages, many private business have compromised with the local government to attend the crisis, which leads to an implicit agreement for executing of the restoration projects as soon as the economic resources are released from the FONDEN (Natural Disasters Trust) 5 , the insurance policy of a commercial bank and the private contributions.” (González, 2018). The 14 monasteries of the Route of the Volcano are part the affected historic buildings; below is Table 3, which describes the monasteries damages and the level of damage cause by the earthquake in accordance with the experts designated by the CNMH_INAH.
