PROCEEDINGS | Scientific Symposium Conclusion Fig.9 - The historical transformation of the marshland, 1954 Thesiger The research work has discuses the main characteristics of the marshland area, and sum up the main transformation that took place throughout the whole process of development. It’s highly important to refer to this area and focus on it due to its historical and cultural importance, furthermore its uniqueness and beauty that can be very well considered as a future tourist attraction of Iraq. The research shows that at the present time there is no much attention to this area, thus it’s our responsibility to shed the light upon this land, as far as environmental tourism is concerned, the research results shows a high potential for this area to develop in revive in a brand new way. Consequently, the revival should be taken place in many steps, starting from the people who live there (the marshmen), to the wetland that includes the residential units, guest unit, and all the trails of the surroundings, as well as the water quality of the marshes itself, this area is so appealing for the architects and landscape designers. The development will be in short focus on the development of the dwellings and make it more convenient for the people as well as the tourist to live in, improve the service in this area, building more clusters, building floating clusters that have underwater residential areas, focused on the landscape, make use of the marshes buffalo, birds for leisure, and to give the place a pleasant atmosphere, without losing the cultural and historical spirit of the land.
