by 60,000 persons , and over 24,000 secondary school students and university students participated in programs and events organized by it , which were organized in local schools , cultural centres and festivals ( Annual Report , 2018 ). In 2018 the Museum arranged 427 meetings for over 17,000 participants from all over the world (( Annual Report , 2018 ). The main aim of its activity is to commemorate the Holocaust victims and present the history and culture of Jews . In 2009 the next institution was created which is intended to inspire dialogue between religions and cultures . It is the Krakow ’ s Intercultural Dialogue Institute of John Paul II . The display of actions within promotion of cultural diversity is also the establishment of the title of “ Krakow Ambassador of Multiculturalism ” by the City Council of Krakow . This title is awarded by the Mayor of the City of Krakow at the request of the Chapter of Multiculturalism . Additionally , programs and conferences are held in the city , the aim of which is to popularise the actions for cultural and social diversity , integration of foreigners , dialogue and cooperation . It should be emphasized that within common actions Krakow carries out actions in the scope of international cooperation by implementation of an idea of twin and partner cities . The former include : Budapest ( Hungary ), Kiev ( Ukraine ), Leuven ( Belgium ), Milan ( Italy ), Nuremberg ( Germany ). Among the partner cities there are the following : Bordeaux ( France ), Bratislava ( Slovakia ), Edinburgh ( Great Britain ), Florence ( Italy ), Frankfurt am Mein ( Germany ), Gothenburg ( Sweden ), Innsbruck ( Austria ), Leipzig ( Germany ), Lviv ( Ukraine ), Orléans ( France ), Pécs ( Hungary ), Saint Petersburg ( Russia ), Solothurn ( Switzerland ), Rome ( Italy ), Vilnius ( Lithuania ), as well as the cities in South America - Cuzco ( Peru ), North America - Rochester ( USA ), San Francisco ( USA ), Africa - Fez ( Morocco ) and Asia -Tbilisi ( Georgia ).
Tourism in Krakow and sustainable development
Krakow is very popular with both domestic and foreign tourists . First of all , this interest is caused by the previously discussed cultural heritage and appropriate tourist infrastructure , which encompasses accommodation and gastronomy facilities , supporting and transport means . In 2017 there were over 30 % of bed places of the whole voivodeship and almost 49 % of the total number of tourists coming to its area stayed here ( regarding the foreign tourists this share exceeded 81 %) ( Tourism in the Malopolskie , 2018 ). Generally , 266 tourist facilities operated in the area of the city , which offered 31,000 bed places , mostly in hotels ( 150 hotels , 22,400 bed places , 10,900 rooms ) ( Tourism in the Malopolskie , 2018 ). The facilities of the highest standard made up the total of 1 / 3 of all the hotels in Krakow . The first-class hotels , i . e . fourstar or five-star ones , housed 53 restaurants and 23 facilities included in bars and cafés , and in three-star hotels there were 67 restaurants and 33 bars ( cafés ) ( Tourism in the Malopolskie , 2018 ).
