An Indian Entered the
Daikin Industries for
the very first time
A
s per a media release, Mr Kanwaljeet Jawa will be the first
Indian on the Daikin Industries board and will be part of the
ten member board council, that will steer the future of
Daikin globally.
Today, Daikin Industries Limited finds significant contribution
from overseas businesses led by local management across the
globe.
Toshio Nakano, chairman at Daikin Air-conditioning India,
said the appointment is a move as per the Daikin corporate
governance code to make boards more open to gender balance
and people with international background.
“Institutional investors and shareholders are also supporting
our approach that supports boardroom diversity, imperative
to operating global organizations in a borderless world. Jawa
has been the change agent for Daikin India’s turnaround since
2010,” said Nakano.

M
arking leadership transition
at South Korea’s LG Group,
Koo Kwang-mo, the son of
the family-controlled conglomerate’s
late chairman Koo Bon-moo, became
a board member of the holding firm
and its CEO on Friday.
LG Group, which holds various
globally-known affiliates under its
wing, including LG Electronics and
LG Chem., is considered South
Korea’s fourth-biggest business
group.
Koo was named as the newest
board member during the group’s
shareholders’ meeting on Friday and
was named by the board as CEO
later in the day. He currently holds
a 6.24 per cent stake in the holding
firm. When he inherits the 11.28-
per cent stake of his late father, he
will become the top shareholder, the
report said.
“If there are any areas that need
change, I plan to improve them,
and make every effort to establish
grounds for growth over the long
run,” he added. Koo will jointly
lead the holding firm with LG Vice
Chairman Ha Hyun-Hoi.
