Baolis of Delhi- Wells Well Dug of . the Khari Baoli market , Old Delhi . Old Delhi has many such names of localities after the wells which have long since disappeared . This includes Beriwala Kuan , Laundon‐ka‐Kuan ( well of boys ), Randion‐ka‐Kuan ( prostitutes ’ well ) in Chawri Bazar , where the red light area was originally situated , and Chirimaron‐ka‐Kuan or the well where bird‐ catchers were found . Neem‐ka‐ Kuan had a neem tree above it , Pipal‐ka‐Kuan , a peepul tree and Kikar‐Ka‐Kuan , a kikar or babul tree .
The historic baolis and wells were not merely a hole on the earth for drawing water , a whole culture developed around them .
